Sailing
Courses are organised on demand, seven days a week, so you can choose a date to suit your own diary. Consider weekdays, if you can. There’s plenty of space for launching and sailing and Whitstable itself is less crowded.
Taster session
For beginners we offer 3 hour "taster" sessions. If you have never sailed before and want to see if you like it, this is for you.
RYA Level 1 Start Sailing
Our most popular course is the two day RYA Level 1 Start Sailing and most pupils go on to do:-
RYA Level 2 Basic Skills
We encourage people to start in a singlehanded dinghy, which means that everyone has their own boat throughout the course. We use Laser Picos which are modern, self draining, centre mainsheet dinghies. We have a Laser Stratos for those who feel more comfortable in a bigger boat with an instructor, and a Laser Dart 16 catamaran for high-speed multihull experience. You can take Levels 1 and 2 in a keelboat. We have a Parker 21 based at Gillingham Marina.
Level 2 is your maritime driving licence and entitles you to hire one of our Picos. After gaining experience you may want to move on to the next level RYA courses:-
- Seamanship skills
- Sailing with spinnakers
- Day sailing
- Start racing
Each is a two-day module.
