I have a definitive email from the F18 boss which is a cut and paste of what has been sent to him by ND.
”See attached information about the next forthcoming attraction in a fortnight - our Forts Race at WYC, which has been specially expanded to meet requests from both F18 and Tornado sailors for a day of 3 back-to-back cans races on Saturday in addition to the Long Distance event which will now be on Sunday. There will be a separate start for Tornados assuming at least 10 of you enter, which we very much hope and expect. Please pass the attachment around your fleet and visit http://www.wyc.org.uk/flattened/events_forts2008.html. The plan is to provide an opportunity on Saturday evening for further discussion about Olympic issues and as it may be very relevant to the future of the F18 it would be good if as many as possible can attend.

Now I don,t care which way round it is although I think that the long distance should be on the Saturday so that all the fit people are cream crackered for the Sunday and Abs and I can have a few extra heavies in the bar in the evening but I think it needs to be made clear on the club website which is saying the opposite.

So which won are we now going for..?

Hi All,

The highlight of our season is fast approaching, no not a decent days sailing weather, but the Forts Race. I have read various things saying that it is now a TT event, which means round the cans racing as well as the feature race, which is great. Can anyone confirm this and on which day would the Forts Race be held, as given the crappy weather this year it would be a gamble not to have the main race on the Saturday in case Sundays was cancelled.

Cheers

To all the big cat sailors who helped out at the weekend - I can’t tell you how grateful we were. What could have been a real embarrassment (i.e. entry into the harbour) turned out to be a very impressive well-organised operation. It really is WYC at it’s best and what a team...and we didn’t upset one fisherman!!!!!

Seriously, your help was very much appreciated by all the Dart 18 sailors.

Hi All non Dart 18 & 16 sailors

The Dart 18/16 open is happening on the 19th – 20th July. As the club works different classes are paired off to help each other at opens . The small cats are geared up to help with the Forts Race and what we need is help with the Dart open.
The real challenge with this event is that on the Saturday we have Harbour day. While this is great for the town and the Club for its profile the issue is that the harbour is closed at 10.30. Also before this all competitors will be having to unhitch at the gate and wheel the boats to the beach. What we need is as many helpers as we can muster to get the boats to their spots. There are many other tasks including Recue boat crew etc that we will be needing.

I am hoping we can count on your support and it would be great if you could come back to me if you think you could be available.

Very Kind Regards

Andy Clarke
