Hi Keithy, there are loads of us who windsurf at whitstable but for some reason we don’t seem to use the forum much.
Lots of the guys have been sailing all year round but some of us are waiting for the ski season to finish and the water to warm up. If you are used to windsurfing in Scotland that shouldn’t be a problem!
If you come down any windy day there will usually be some guys out although it is best to avoid high tide.
If you ask for Justin he looks after us all. He can usually be recognised by having the biggest sail and the least hair. Just look for the shiny head. He normally sends an email around before the weekend to try and coordinate an approximate time for us to meet when the conditions might be good which is probably why the forum doesn’t get used too much. You should be able to get his email address from the yacht club web site under contacts > class captains but I notice it hasn’t been updated. If you contact Mel at the office I am sure she will put you in touch.
I would look out for you myself but have still got some skiing to do so wont be around for a while
Afternoon folks. Hello Keithy… and thanks Charlie…
We do have an active & growing fleet; 20+ out last weekend. I’m the fleet capitain for this year which doesn’t mean a whole lot except perhaps provide some focal point to galvanise more boards out onto the water (90+ boards stored at the club...)
I usually send out a round robin email most Fridays to gauge who’s doing what. There’s a mixed response to the forum; many much prefer email; i guess we’ll probably end up using both email & forum if that’s what it takes. Please get in touch; my work email is .
Next weekend - 26th/27th - is low tide during the middle of the day which tends to be a bit friendlier in most wind directions. You can stand up at low tide for quite some way and the water can be wonderfully flat. Otherwise it does start to get nicely bumpy as the tide comes in; some of the local guys prefer this when there’s a blow. There’s epic runs to be made over to Sheppey & back.
I’ll certainly be down next weekend so.... cheers, justin
