Todays race was cancelled due to only 1 safety boat being available

A similar thing happened on the last Wednesday evening race when the saftey boat could not be started

I understand and fully respect why these difficult decisions are taken, our safety!

Like most, I am also aware that engines/boats have been stolen and that is why things are iffy at the moment
but that was 4 weeks ago

Can someone explain what is happening?
If there is a delay in replacing the missing equipment, why?
Is there anything that we as members can do to help?

If we cannot cover races like today, then perhaps they should have been cancelled before the day

Is there any question of safety cover for the August Regatta?

Should our race programme be put on hold?

Hi Glen,

Really sorry you missed out on racing this weekend.  Wheels have been put on fast forward today (I’ve been away for 10 days and the company required payment in advance).  I have it on good authority however that this will be pushed through and the company in question are usually as good as their word.

Ian is very good at contingency plans so I am sure that other events/club racing will be covered.

A completely iniquitous situation for a club of our (perceived) standing, I was hanging my head in shame on Sunday when I saw what was going on. We need a way to fast track a situation such as this in the future. It is fairly obvious that our insurance will pay out eventually but until that time we need the equipment NOW !........... Mel this is not your problem at all, what is needed is a person who deals with Marine Insurance companies on a regular basis and perhaps has a rapport with them ?
