Another big Whitstable turnout and another day of big gusts and big shifts…

Rick Perkins led for most of the race after Simon Northrop had an intimate experience with the island following a rather nasty weather roll. Charlie Campion chased Rick to the end, but Rick held him off with some Americas Cup style tactics down the last run.

Steve Restall picked up his third 3rd place in succession following a couple of dips, with your (modest) author followed in 4th, holding off a fast catching Northrop.

There were great perfomances from Sophie with a big rig and Tom Baily with a radial both managing to avoid a swim and finish well. Having missed a couple of starters last week (sorry Sophie and Gary), I’m going to get it wrong again, but Chris Brealy, Peter Barnard and Gary were also there.

Chris gets the prize for fastest rig boat and get changed time ever, and thanks to Nick Stevens for coming to watch…

I have to say I thought Sophie did very well to finish in those conditions with a full rig ...

thanks Rick - I’ve just about recovered from the excitement of it, and am now kicking myself for making such a rubbish start, and hitting two marks (well the same mark twice!)!
