A relatively warm and sunny day with a light to moderate breeze down the lake suggested good things for the gathered fleet of 15 Lasers last Sunday. Inevitably the start line was crowded but it was Kym Leatt starting at the shore end who made it round first. A tight run saw the two youngsters Elliott and Richard come through, together with your author who just squeaked round no 8 ahead.
That pattern continued for the next few legs with Richard ahead, then your author as the first lap was completed with Kym making a recovery to 2nd.
Off down the next long run things got tight again, and the beat to no 3 saw your author just ahead of Kym with Richard a little further back. Down the run to the bottom of the lake Kym stayed inshore and drifted away to a commanding lead he held to the finish. Your author held off Richard, with Sophie Mackay also having a good run to pull past the battle between Elliott and the ever present Simon Northrop to finish 4th.
It even felt hot in the end!!!
