Friday Food - ANNOUNCEMENT

Unfortunately Friday EVENING food has not been as popular as we had originally hoped. Having listened to various opinions we have decided to provide a more substantial, freshly prepared, home made dish, possibly with a theme, once a month. We propose to start this Friday 28th August and will publish the proposed menu shortly. Friday lunchtimes however continue to be popular so these will continue. Bar and Catering Committee. WYC.

Well done Christian - again

Last year we wrote: "Congratulations to Christian Brewer who, crewing for former Whitstable member Stuart Jardine, has just won the XOD Captains Cup in Cowes Week from a fleet of 80 boats over 8 days of racing. This is the sixth time Christian has won it with Stuart, and its Stuart's seventh win." Well - they have done it again, in another 80 boat fleet. Two years in a row and a seventh championship win for Christian and an eighth for Stuart. How impressive is that.

Safety First!

Attention ladies! We are currently reviewing our electrics and bringing them in line with current regulations. The bad news is that we have sealed off certain sockets in the ladies changing rooms. The good news is however that we have installed extra sockets (and mirrors) down the far end of the changing room (well away from water). The plugs are in a grey casing. The lid can be flipped opened from the bottom. If you have any problems, our staff (preferably the females) will be only too pleased to help. WYC

It’s not just about dinghies and cats….

WYC's keelboat side is also not only alive and well but also winning against the best competition. 'Icom Assassin', the Stimson IRC 42 skippered, helmed and part owned by Peter Jackson, has just taken both the Class and Overall lead in the 60 boat 2009 'Solent Series' Championship fleet. 2nd in the Royal Yacht Squadron Regatta 3 weeks earlier Assassin won Class 1 in the Portsmouth event last week to move into the overall lead with 2 regattas to go. The clubs Paul Peggs also remains near the top of the international 2 handed offshore race series.

WYC Regalia

We have a limited selection of regalia available to members (young and old). Please ask the bar staff for the catalogue (and order forms). All purchases must be paid for in advance. WYC.

Thank You from the RNLI

The RNLI wished their thanks to be conveyed to the Whitstable Week Quizzers who collected £92.36 for the charity. It's always good to keep on their right side!!
