News at Whitstable Yacht Club

Club News - September

IMPORTANT NOTICE - Beach Thefts

We have had reports (over a period of several months) that somebody is tampering with, sleeping in and in some cases stealing from boats around our beach. This matter has been reported to the police who periodically patrol the area. We will be keeping in contact with the Police regularly but, in the meantime, please make sure you do not leave anything under your boat covers and report any incidents to the Club IMMEDIATELY - we do have access to Police CCTV so time really is of the essence. Photo Opportunity

Do you have any photos which might make a good cover for the 2011 WYC programme? Something which captures the essence of sailing and racing at Whitstable? If so, please e-mail to the club office ().

More Congratulations

Well done to Gavin Barr and Mark Skipper (current Wanderer National Champions) who won the Wanderers Open meeting at Salcombe on 11/12 September.

Website

Appologies for the issues with the WYC website over the last few weeks. These have now been resolved. The data centre on which the club site is hosted changed their IP range. This started to cause a intermittent outage with the server on which the club’s site was hosted. Having identified the problem Tinderhouse migrated the club’s site to a newer, faster server. The change over, including DNS changes took around five days to complete during which time the site was intermittently unavailable online. As a consequence of the server change the site and web cam configuration needed to be updated. The migration and configuration is now complete. Robert Govier WYC IT Officer
