Tasar National Championships at Whitstable Yacht Club report

Tasar Prize Winners 2016
Strong winds and gusts of up to 35 knots proved challenging for the 52 sailors who braved the water for the 2016 Tasar National at Whitstable Yacht Club last weekend (8-10 July). However, a little determination and a lot of impromptu on the water repairs saw 26 boats battle it out in a fast and furious 3 day weekend of sailing.
The event was won by Rod & Maureen Porteous from Hayling Island Sailing Club, and the first Whitstable boat was Stephen Nation and Julie Puckett in 5th place. See the full write up on Yachts & Yachting at yachtsandyachting.com/news/190822/Tasar-National-Championships-at-Whitstable. Thanks to all the volunteers at Whitstable Yacht Club for helping to make the event run smoothly, especially Race Officer Tom Bruton, organisers Andy and Fee Clarke, and the WYC Safety Boat Team!

Save the date: Whitstable Yacht Club’s Summer Ball on 24th September!

Save the date for the highlight of your social calendar: the Whitstable Yacht Club Summer Ball on Saturday 24th September! More details will be released soon, but we can announce that Whitstable's famous Soul, Blues and RocknRoll band Squeeze Gut Alley will be playing!

Help Needed to set up for the Oyster Festival Open Day

The club will be open to the public for the first day of the Oyster Festival on Saturday 23rd July. We will be raising funds for the club by selling refreshments to the public from the decking on the busiest day of the year, and need a small working party in the morning to help set up the bar and club for the day. If you can help out on 23rd July at 8am, please contact Alex Grantham on 07958439941 or alex.grantham@wyc.org.uk

Reminder: Safety Advice For Free Sailing

Ramp back in use

A big thanks to Ricky & his team for getting the ramp back in action. Ricky & family are relatively new members and their enthusiasm and willingness to help is what the club is all about. A more permanent fix will take place after the main sailing season. The ramp has not been jet washed yet so please take care.
