Sunday Treats

Get cosy with your favourite tipple and a nice roast potato at the bar - just like the old days (obviously, I am far too young to remember). You can thank volunteer Chef Lowes and his gang for this treat! Don't miss out as I've heard there may be other tasty treats on the menu! Melanie

2010 Sailing Programme now on line

The 2010 sailing programme, together with the duty roster, is now on this site in the racing section. The programme booklet is with the printers and will be sent to members in due course.

Winter Warmups

The "Bewl Blaster" Open is on Sunday 7th Feb (entry fee: £10). The "Spring Thaw" Open Series also at Bewl Valley starts on Sunday 14th Feb and continues each Sunday up to Sun. 7th March (entry fee: £40 for the series). For more informatoin phone the club on 01892 890930, or email info@bewlvalleysc.co.uk. Another well attended event is the Hoo Freezer. This is scheduled to take place on 27th February and more information can be found on the Hoo Ness Yacht Club's website at: http://www.hooness.org.uk. This is popular with our members so you will see a few familiar faces should you decide to attend. WYC

Five Stars for the Club (blowing the WYC trumpet)

We are pleased to announce that WYC was given the highest score possible from a recent health inspection. "Scores on the Doors" is a government scheme which grades the hygiene/food management and general cleanliness of a premises (including the bar/cellar). A great start to 2010.

Masts down - please

There are still a number of masts standing on the beach. Members are reminded that the boat parking policy states that masts must be lowered during the non-sailing months. If you wish to sail through the winter please let the office know and you will be given dispensation to leave your mast up. If your mast is still up please lower it immediately.

For all our good little sailors…

...the Club has organised a christmas treat for you all. We will be celebrating Christmas with fun, carols with the odd party game here and there. If you are interested, please write your names on the beautiful poster (designed by Holly Gostelow) on the notice board by the tea bar. The more the merrier!

New Years Eve

Start as you mean to go on in 2010. The Pepper Army are back to play again by popular request (they received rave reviews last year). Tickets are now available behind the bar at £15 and canapes will be served. Champagne will be available to purchase behind the bar (I guarantee we won't be running out!). We have had a lot of interest in "the party of the decade" so make sure you buy your tickets asap. Donna Hender, Social Secretary

What are your thoughts on further training?

We are running this survey to gauge members' thoughts on further training. We would also like to know if the more accomplished sailors would be interested in becoming Club Racing Coaches/mentors for new members/post Level 2 sailors. If you wish to take part, please click on the link below. http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/S6TZ6H9 Many thanks. WYC

Volunteers urgently required for Tea Bar

As you know a small group of members have been on hand to serve you behind the Tea Bar for several weeks now. We are appealling for helpers to give some of our volunteers a break - any help would be much appreciated. Dates in particular are: 22 November and 29th November. Please contact the office (before 2pm) or leave a message behind the bar. Thanks very much. WYC

Clearance of changing rooms

Please remove all loose gear immediately following the last race of the season. Winter working parties will undertake deep cleaning and painting. All lost property and abandoned clothing will be disposed of during the week beginning Monday 14th December. Many thanks. WYC

Thanks for your help

Thanks to all those who turned out to move boats and trailers from the harbourmaster's compound on the West Quay. Boats have been moved to our part of the quay and trailers have been put in the Chalet Park.

Subs - Update

You should now have received your subscription renewal forms - these were sent out several weeks ago. If you haven't received anything in the post by now I suggest you download the subs form from the website. Just follow this link: http://www.wyc.org.uk/downloads/SubscriptionForm20092010.pdf. You can also find boat parking prices on our website (http://www.wyc.org.uk/flattened/members_boatparking.html). No excuses! Melanie

Subs Reminder

Further to previous postings, your subs are now due. The club is in need of a little "tlc" and we are eager to start, however we need your subscription fees to do this in time for next year's sailing season. Anyone who hasn't received their subs form, please contact the office and we will send this through to you electronically. WYC

Important Notice for our Gentleman Members

Please use the external doors to access the toilet and changing room areas when wearing wet gear. A member recently slipped on the internal stairs which were soaking wet. These stairs are also used by the bar staff to access the cellar.
