RNLI Kent Coast Challenge - Your support needed!

RNLIOn Saturday 25 March 2017, three serving Whitstable Lifeboat crewmen, Adrian, Steve and Oz, are running a 118 mile relay around the coast of Kent. Starting at Gravesend RNLI Station, the run will visit each Kent RNLI station as well as Leysdown Lifeguard Station en route to Dungeness RNLI.
The aim of the challenge is to promote awareness of the Respect The Water campaign and raise money for the RNLI: the charity that saves lives at sea. Each runner will take on a leg of the run, between 10-14 miles at a time, before ‘handing the baton’ over to the next runner. If you think of a double marathon each... you won’t be far wrong!
The challenging 118 mile course will pass all Lifeboat stations in Kent which are: Gravesend, Sheerness, Leysdown (Lifeguard station), Whitstable, Margate, Ramsgate, Walmer, Dover, Littlestone & Dungeness. The three intrepid runners will be supported by other volunteers from the Whitstable Lifeboat Station along the route; manning the support vehicles, offering kind words and wisdom and very possibly cake!
The team will pass through Whitstable on 25th March at around 10am, so please come out to support them! There will also be a live tracking website which will display the progress of the runner or runners as they move around the coast. Please visit www.whitstablelifeboat.org.uk for the live tracking map and timing details, as well as justgiving.com/fundraising/RNLIKentCoastChallenge to donate.
Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, if any of our members, family or friends feel the urge to put on their running shoes and join us for a few miles then this would be much appreciated too. The team moral will be in need of boosting at some point, and a friendly face and someone to chat with would be an enormous help! Contact Stevie Dexter if you'd like to take part.
