RYA Powerboat Level 1 course – for ages 10-14 only. 1 day course.
Assumed knowledge: none
Course content: boat safety, boat handling, and basic theory. Launch and recovery, boat preparation, picking up and securing to a mooring buoy.
After the course they will have an understanding of powerboating and be able to drive under supervision.
Over 14’s are encouraged to complete the RYA powerboat level 2 course.

Instructions
The following kit we have available to borrow but if you have any of the following please bring it with you.
• Wet suit
• Buoyancy aid
• Sailing boots / water shoes or old trainers (not crocs or sandals)
• Helmet
• Water proof coat / Spray top
• Sailing gloves (Cycling or such will do – not essential)
Personal items – not provided:
• Towel
• Swim suit or trunks
• Water bottle
• Sun cream
• A sun hat/cap or woolly hat
• Warm clothes for after the course (including a coat if cold). Or long top, leggings, and socks for under wetsuits and shoes if really cold.
Lunch: We will be having a lunch break for about 45 minutes at about 1230. There is a coffee hut on site that food can be brought from but in busy periods long ques can cause delay, so a packed lunch is advised.
Log books: Will be provided for those doing RYA PB level 1.
