Application to Sports England

Our application to Sports England for a grant to improve the club has now been submitted. There have been many hours spent on this complex application process, and special thanks to go the following people who helped to put the bid together: Andy Jackson, Max Hunt, Adam Roake, Louisa Clifford, Terry Davis, Sarah Wren, Dick Bradburn, Jeff Emerson, Robert Govier, and Jill Fagg. We will find out if we have been successful in this first round in January.

Congratulations to Nia Crockford

Nia Crockford
We're pleased to announce that Nia Crockford has been selected by the Trustees of the RYA SE Youth Training Fund to be awarded a Coaching Bursary to continue her instructor training. The bursary will fund Nia to obtain her Race Coach Level 2 qualification.
Nia (pictured above at Pirate Day during Whitstable Week) has been a popular feature of the Cadet and Family sailing sessions this year, coaching and entertaining the WYC cadets, and has been a key driver in the increase of young people taking part over the year. We wish her luck with her training, and look forward to seeing her putting the skills to good use at the club in 2016!

Atlantic Row - Less than 40 days to go!

Atlantic Row
Friends of WYC, Dan Parsons and Olly Clark, will be setting off to row 3000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean in less than 40 days time! Their campaign has come along way since their boat launch at Whitstable Yacht Club in May, but still need help to meet their funding goal of £250,000 for Prostate Cancer UK and ABF, The Soldiers’ Charity.
You can help! From entering the sweepstake, donating just £1 through Virgin Money Giving, cake sales, sponsored walks, to joining the 100 Club and having an image or logo of your choice on our website and boat, or even organising your own event, please do get involved – and ask your friends, families and colleagues to do the same. You can see some fundraising ideas here.
Good luck Dan and Olly!
