Dinghy Instructors Required for Cadet and Sailing Development Sessions

If you have a current RYA Dinghy or Assistant Dinghy Instructor certificate, your club cadet fleet needs you to help out with training sessions. You'd be working under the guidance of a Senior Sailing Instructor and filling in on a ad-hoc basis, to cover gaps in the rota. Please email Peter Gowing if you're interested: sailing.development.officer@wyc.org.uk.

Wine & Wisdom Well Done!

Wine&Wisdom
Over 80 people took part in the Wine & Wisdom on Saturday night at Whitstable Yacht Club. The Sea Room was packed with tables, and a lot of cheese was eaten to support the brains of the competitors who answered some tricky questions! Highlight of the night was the Cadet table beating their parents, but everyone who took part had fun. We also raised £160 for the Cadets from the raffle! Thanks to organisers and quiz masters Phil Emery, Ian Hender and Alex Grantham!

Recuiting Race Recorders

Maybe you're a husband/wife/girlfriend/boyfriend/parent/child of a sailor? Maybe you can't sail as much as you would like but still want to be involved?
Come and join the WYC Race Recording team! We can't promise you won't get wet as you bounce over the waves in a rib out to the committee boat, but we can promise a close up view of club racing and good company!
Full Training given, and free Social membership if you commit to a minimum of 10 duties per year. Contact Jill Fagg (brownings.oast@gmail.com) for more information.

Do you want to be part of the WYC General Committee?

The AGM is coming up in early April. At the AGM we vote in the members of the General Committee. A number of GC members are stepping down, or changing positions, so we have vacancies.
The General Committee meets once a month, in the evening of the 3rd Monday of the month, and is there to administer and manage the club. Being on the General Committee is the best way to influence the future direction of the club, and a great way to give something back to your club.
Members of the General Committee can either have specific roles, relating to Officer positions or sub committees, or be 'ordinary members' without specific responsibilities or duties, there to act as representatives of the membership at large, and to provide support and advice.
We have specific vacancies in the positions of Treasurer, Rear Commodore House and Vice Commodore, and open positions for ordinary members.
If you'd like to be a part of the General Committee for the 2016 season, please contact Jeff in the office for a nomination form, which need to be submitted at least 2 weeks before the AGM. If you have any questions about the General Committee, any of the current members would be happy to help.

STORAGE STICKERS

Perpetual storage stickers for members boats/equipment/racks are now available to pick up in the Sea Room of the club. Please come down and place them on your equipment as soon as possible. When placing on dinghies, please stick them on the transom where they can be easily seen when the cover is on. Board/kayaks, please place the sticker on your allocated rack. There is space on the sticker for your name should you wish - this would help with identification. Stickers will not be issued annually in future. Sailing Sec.
