Committee Boat Fund Raising
Posted: Friday, 30 May, 2014
The new Committee Boat is progressing quickly, with the windows now in and the engines onsite. When it is complete we will own a powerful and sophisticated new craft that will last many years into the future, improving both club and championship racing. It will be great new asset for the club. As discussed at the AGM, there is still a small shortfall in the budget for the new boat and, to cover this, the members voted that a small levy may be applied to next year’s subs. However, if we raise enough money before then this won’t be needed.
Here are a couple of the fund-raising ideas we will be instigating over the next few months:
The ‘Buy a Bit for the Boat’ scheme
We need lots of items of equipment to kit out the new Committee Boat. Why not help the boat to get finished by ‘buying’ an individual item? You can donate money that will buy an item from just a few pounds, to a few thousand. Remember, if you are a UK tax payer we can also claim 25% back off the tax man (please use the gift aid form), so this is really cost effective way of using member donations to get the new boat complete and on the water.
Click here to see the list of items that your donation can purchase, or see the chart in the Sea Room for our progress so far.
The Whitstable Week Auction
There will be an auction of quality items to be held during Whitstable Week. The top item so far is a brand new Laser Sail (worth over £400)! If you have any further quality items you would like to donate for auction, then please contact the office. The auction will be a varied lot, so there will be something for every budget.
We are also going to have a raffle to be drawn in Whitstable Week, so any smaller items would be appreciated. Tickets will be on sale once we have a suitable range of prizes.
Any other ideas
You can also donate directly to the costs, and more fund raising initiatives will be launched over the next month or so, but if you have any other ideas that will help us to get the boat finished, then do get in touch with the office.
Remember, if you’re donating money and are a UK tax payer, use the gift aid form!
