We have a long tradition of introducing young people to sailing and the water – our Cadet and Families programme is designed to provide children aged 8 and above an appropriate start in a controlled and fun manner.
There is a programme of Cadet sessions throughout the year where young people quickly make new friends as they learn to sail under supervision. Most youngsters go onto take their RYA Youth Sailing qualifications as a means of structured learning.
But there’s plenty of time to enjoy just being on the beach or on the water away from the organised sailing sessions. Parents have the benefit of watching their children learn from the beach or the club deck and take take advantage of Keith’s coffee shop or the club bar.
There’s also a great social side of parties and barbecues which is topped by our annual Cadetfest week of sailing, watersports, socials and fun!
So come along to meet new friends, get on the water, and learn some new tricks! Whether you just want to meet up with friends in the club house, explore the beautiful Whitstable coastline, get on the water to learn about the sea, jump on a windsurfer, kayak, or race dinghies against some of the finest sailors in the country, WYC is the place for you!
